Di Maria 'very happy to join PSG'

English club Manchester United's Angel di Maria on Wednesday said he was very happy to sign with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ahead of the official announcement of the transfer by the French football club.

"I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain. They're very important," the 27-year-old said, reports Efe.

The Argentine international successfully passed his medical in Doha and PSG will officially announce the signing later. Di Maria signed a four-year contract for 10 million euros per season as wage.

PSG will pay United about 63 million euros as transfer money.

The midfielder will be the second most expensive player in French league history as PSG paid 64 million euros in 2013 to sign Uruguayan Edinson Cavani from Italian side Napoli.

"What I know about PSG is that they are a team who have won all possible titles in France last season," di Maria noted.

The Argentine star will join Uruguayan player Cavani and Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the team led by Frenchman Laurent Blanc.

"I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League," di Maria added.

In his first and only season with English side Manchester United, di Maria featured in 32 games, including 27 Premier League ties, and scored just four goals.
