Lookup, a messaging app that connects shoppers with local businesses, said on Wednesday that it has raised funding from Twitter co-founder Biz Stone. The exact amount for the first round of funding raised was undisclosed.

Lookup was founded by Deepak Ravindran and within five months of launch, it has registered over 2 lakh downloads, it said.

"I am honored to be a part of Deepak's next big project and I am truly impressed by what he has already accomplished in his life. I'm very excited about working with such an inspiring entrepreneur, whom I share common ideologies with," Stone said in a statement.

He has joined the Lookup team as an investor and advisor, the Bangalore-based company said.

Lookup intends to use the funds raised to grow its merchant base and expand to newer geographies, it added.

The company had raised a total of $382,000 in its seed round, from multiple investors including Infosys' Kris Gopalakrishnan.
