Beau Pankiw Of all the things in business I would like to see work Holacracy is one of them. Unfortunately I see it as only an opiate for the employees. I fundamentally agree with Ken Harms, except to come to work and earn a paycheck there is no motivation to move up. There is only the CEO and "the team", nothing in between, no leadership in depth, only a mass of opinions and one arbitrator. 3 hours ago

Zachary Thomas When one mentions that 210 members of their workforce "quit" it should be noted that they chose to take a hefty severance and move on. 41 minutes ago

    • Cheryl Swanson, FLMI
Cheryl Swanson, FLMI Everyone is an advisor in collaboration. The decision-maker or project leader (sometimes a peer) is the one makes the direction and choices. That's how effective leadership works. Weak leadership looks around at everyone and says, "Collaborate and give me a decision." Strong leadership asks pointed questions with each type of advisor to get the type of information and counter-checking of opinions she needs, then sets a direction and guides everyone to it. We don't vote.2 days ago

Joan M. Capua As usual, great insights from the Wall St. Journal. I've had many catch ups with colleagues on the stairs that were spontaneous, and I've heard many others say "Just ran into... I'd been emailing her to schedule a meeting..."6 days ago

Kevin McMahon I was at GTE when the phone companies were following that strategy of be the App and not just the pipe. They all lost their shirts. Sometimes it's good to be the pipe. Also, I am not current on the dividend profile but back then phone companies liked to dish out the profits whereas tech companies did not. Different 'products' appealing to different investor portfolios really so not a great comparison imo.6 days ago
