Water enthusiasts throughout the South voted Grand Rivers, Kentucky the most boater-friendly city in a recent survey by “Life on the Water” magazine. Canal Campground in Grand Rivers tied with Lake Guntersville State Park Campground in Alabama for best campground on the water. Lake Barkley State Resort Park near Cadiz, Kentucky also tied with Lake Guntersville State Park as the best state park on the water.

Miss Patti’s Sawdust Pie

Pattis Sawdust Pie

One of the most special places in Grand Rivers is Patti’s 1880’s Settlement and they have agreed to let me share their famous Sawdust Pie Recipe. I think it is perfect for our first post. Miss Patti’s Sawdust Pie

Ingredients:
7 egg Whites, unbeaten
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 1/2 cups pecan
1 1/2 cups coconut
9-inch unbaked pie shell

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and stir by hand. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake in preheated 325degree oven until glossy and set(about 25 to 30 minutes).
DO NOT OVER BAKE!
Serve warm with sliced bananas and whipped cream. Serves 8. Enjoy!
