Free Kids Fishing Event; Saturday June 7, 2014

Kids Fishing2 003Join us in Grand Rivers on Saturday, June 7, 2014, for the Grand Rivers Chamber Kids FREE Fishing Event.

The event takes place at Little Lake Park in Grand Rivers from 9AM – 12 noon.

The free morning of fishing fund is open to kids for ages 2 to 12 years old. Bring your own pole – or you can use one of ours. Bait will also be provided. Trophies will be awarded by age group.

This fun event includes refreshments, fishing, and prized for the kids.

So Cool now sells Uggs

Picture1So Cool in Grand Rivers, KY is now an official carrier of the Ugg brand shoes. So Cool will carry not only the traditional Ugg boots but Ugg flats and sneakers as well. You can visit the Grand Rivers Facebook page to see more pictures of the shoes they carry at facebook.com/GrandRivers.

So Cool also carries the very popular brand Croc’s for kids and Earthies for women. The Earthies are a very comfortable and durable shoe that you can not only wear all day but look stylish doing it. They now have the light up Croc’s which are also shown on our Facebook page. Kids love the light up Croc’s because they are silly and entertaining. Bluegrass Productions May Cruise-in Grand Rivers

Top Gun Car ShowsJoin us Saturday, May 10 for the Bluegrass Productions Top Gun Car Show Series™ Grand Rivers Cruise-in.

The Cruise-in is open to all cars, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles. This will be a free event with no charge to attendees or cars. All makes, Models, and years of any kind are welcome to join in the fun. The day will include entertainment, music, and wholesome fun for the entire family

Join Grand Rivers for a Free Stanley Walker Day Concert

SIn honor of Grand Rivers native and musical talent Stanley Walker, May 17, 2014, will be celebrated with a concert by Stanley and friends at the Badgett Playhouse. The concert is free, but donations will be collected for Kosair Charities. Concert time is 1:00 p.m. Join us in Grand Rivers for an afternoon of live music by Stanley Walker and friends.

Stanley Walker
Stanley was born in Grand Rivers and started playing guitar when he was only five years old. Growing up, he listened to the Grand Ole Opry and dreamed of being there. In 1969, his dream came true when he played behind Jean Shepard. Stanley’s sound is different from any other guitarist because he tunes his guitar to straight E rather than natural tuning. His early playing resembled single string Ernest Tubb songs.

Stanley played lead guitar for Ray Smith and the Rock and Roll Boys from 1956 to 1969. With rockabilly enthusiasts, Ray is revered for his five singles released on Sun Records. Stanley played on all of Smith’s songs cut at Sun.

Stanley’s career highlights also included appearances on Hee Haw, solo recordings, and backing artists including Roy Clark, Lefty Frizzell, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Stanley has produced four country albums and was recognized in Billboard Magazine for the singles, ‘Old Easy Loving & He Ain’t Easy Anymore. Stanley was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2008.

Stanley spent 9 months in Kosair Hospital in 1948. He credits Kosair with saving his life as a child.
