OilSearch Pacific Games Relay
‘1 Baton, 22 Provinces, 100 Days’
The Oil Search Pacific Games Relay will engage all Papua New Guineans in a celebration of participation and culture as the forerunner for the 2015 Pacific Games. Over 100 days the baton will travel across the nation to each of the 22 provinces. The baton will travel by land, sea and air using modern and traditional methods of transport, finishing its journey at the Opening Ceremony, in Port Moresby, on 4 July 2015.
The relay offers an opportunity for each province to showcase its people, its culture, its natural beauty and its unique spot in the diverse country that is PNG and welcomes everyone to be part of the journey.
The Relay is now on going around the country. It began its journey on the 26th of March 2015 with a traditional Hiri send off, from Ela Beach, Port Moresby.

Naming rights sponsors for the Relay, Oil Search wants to ensure that all the people of PNG get an opportunity to be part of the Games experience. Oil Search is bringing the relay baton to the far outreaches of the country with our aim to get to over one million people either as baton runners, volunteers, or community groups participating along the journey.
UNICEF is working with the Pacific Games and the Games Relay to promote the rights of children. It will conduct health and education awareness in a number of provinces as the relay passes through.
