Heavy rain and gales of up to 60mph set to batter Bristol
Heavy rain and gales of up to 60mph set to batter Bristol over the next 36 hours.
Chris Page of the Met office told the Bristol Post: "It's not the best start to summer if I'm honest."
From midday today he said the weather would "gradually go downhill," as a cold front from the west moves in, and with it plenty of heavy rain and strong winds.
"We actually have a yellow weather warning in place for the Bristol area at the moment," Chris said.
"It will come in pace from about 4pm today until 6pm on Tuesday. In Bristol we expect you to see winds of 50mph and up to 60mph in exposed areas.
"These will be accompanied by heavy rain - it's not a great start to the summer if I'm honest."
He said winds should start to ease and the cloud break up as we move into Tuesday evening.
"From Wednesday we should see a general improvement in the weather and the winds will become a lot lighter," he added.
A yellow weather warning states: "The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to transport and outdoor activities. Damage to some trees seems likely, given that they are in full leaf."
