If Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan were to helm the next Daredevil movie, Matt Damon would be up for playing Marvel's blind superhero.
In an interview with The Daily News (via THR) to promote his new film The Martian, Damon explained why he turned down the opportunity to play Matt Murdock in the 2003 film, which instead starred Ben Affleck.
"For [me and Ben] it was always 'Daredevil' — that's the comic we read when we were kids," Damon said. "But when that one came along (in 2003) I chickened out, because I couldn't tell. I hadn't seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson's) work and I didn't know. So I just said, 'No.' Ben [Affleck] was like, 'I gotta do it.'"
However, if Christopher Nolan were to direct a new film centered around the blind hero, Damon would jump at the opportunity. "If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, 'I want to do Daredevil,' I would be in," he added.
Damon also jokingly suggested the possibility of both starring in and directing the next Daredevil film, should Nolan be busy with other projects. "Just putting that out there," he said.
