‘Famous Detective Pikachu’ is basically ‘Sherlock’ meets ‘Pokémon’
As fun and inspirational as Pokémon‘s Super Bowl spot is, it’s nothing compared to the sheer awesomeness of this trailer for Nintendo’s Famous Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Partnership.
You see, it depicts a Pikachu donning Sherlock Holmes’ signature deerstalker and teaming with a young boy to solve crimes. What’s more, this fuzzy little pocket monster talks in full sentences.
Announced in October 2013, the game is set in Lime City, where Pikachu’s chance meeting with Tim Goodman leads to, well … the birth of a new partnership. There’s some game footage in the trailer, but not many clues as to actual gameplay.
Famous Detective Pikachu will debut Feb. 3 on the Japanese eShop for Nintendo 3DS. There’s no word yet about overseas release.
