The truth about zits
Rumors abound about what causes or prevents acne. Some people blame outbreaks on diets rich in dairy products or on sloppy personal hygiene. The truth is more complicated. Teens could cut out all milk and cheese and wash their faces twice a day, yet still break out. Bacteria play a major role in pimply breakouts. And here’s the big irony: The same bacteria species that can trigger outbreaks can also, in some circumstances, quash them. Some researchers are now looking at one day treating acne by applying those Propionibacterium acnes germs.
