Hanuman Vatika, located around 7kms from the city center, is a beautiful garden temple devoted to Hanuman, the monkey devotee of Lord Rama. Sprawl over an area of 13 acres of land, Hanuman Vatika contains a 74-feet tall highly impressive standing statue of Hanuman, constructed by Sri. Laxman Swami of Hyderabad. Set up by Hanuman Vatika Trust and the initial initiative came from Sri. Dilip Roy. Hanuman Vatika named after one of the highest statue of Hanuman. Inaugurated in the year 1994 by the then Chief Minister of Orissa, Biju Patnaik. The Hanuman Vatika houses a beautiful temple complex with several shrines of Bata Mangala Mandira, Binayaka Mandira, Santoshi Ma Mandira, Bruhat Sivalinga Mandira, Ram Daravar, Hanumanji Mandira, Ma Laxmi Mandira, Jagannath Mandira and Manas Parayana Sharala. Due to the presence of these shrines, beauty scenario and green area, this calm tourist destination is more popular among the locals as a place of pilgrimage. Number of annual devotional programmes organised at this place which includes foundation day programme on 23rd February, Shivaratri, Rathayatra etc

Besides numerous temple the complex is full of Mandap and garden space. A number of ceremonies such as marriage, birthday parties, satsang is regularly held by the devotees. It is very right place at Rourkela to perform all social functions to the great satisfaction in a very good, healthy environment and all co-operation is being organized by the temple authority at all the times. The Kalia Baikunth , the kitchen, the kalyan mandap and the bhajan mandap lie close to the the Jagannath Temple. The Gate of the temple is beautifully decorated with statues who watch the temple. The greenery is the scenery of this complex.

There are no charges for entering the temple, however there are charges using the camera over the complex. A lot of shops have coming up selling the puja materials, prasad and all kind of snacks. The beautiful atmosphere relaxed the mind and the temple atmosphere bring peace to the tired minds. The temple complex has become a national point of tourism and is must seen in Orissa. It is sad that the complex is not being actively promoted by the tourism department. Creating of further quality infrastructure will surely uplift the sentiment in the complex.
