about the book

princess decomposia & count spatula

As her father, the king of the underworld, always—ALWAYS—feels ill, Princess Decomposia must run around the palace doing not only her tasks, but her father’s as well! And it is really hard to dodge her werewolf, ghost, and mummy subjects all the time. She always feels behind on her work, buried under paperwork, and to top things off, her father recently fired the palace chef. Which means Decomposia is doing all the cooking as well!

Well, she won’t stand for it anymore. Decomposia’s first step is to hire a new chef. Count Spatula answers the call, a vampire chef with a tooth for sweet things. In fact, the Count is quite a charming go-getter. Pretty soon the two young ghouls are becoming friends. Then, maybe more than friends?

Eventually. But first, Princess Decomposia has to sort her own life out. Then she will have to convince the king, who now takes an interest for some reason, to keep Count Spatula hired.

As a kid, Andi Watson’s favorite books, the ones that inspired him to become a writer, were The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner, The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White, and The Once and Future King cycle by Alan Garner as well. However, when pressed, he has to say his favorite author is Jane Austen. His favorite word is “gallimaufry,” which means “a mess or collection of things.” However, he mostly just likes it for how it sounds.

Andi was born and raised in Kippax, West Yorkshire, England. His parents were working class. He studied art and graphic design/illustration, first at Dewsbury college then at Liverpool Polytechnic. He now lives in Worcester.
