Delman Lee

CTO and president of TAL Apparel, the world’s oldest and largest textile company, Delman Lee has rewritten the rule book on how shirts are made. By incorporating new technologies he is raising the bar within the industry, making better shirts and making them faster. His company makes one in seven shirts sold in the US, including high-end dress shirts, polo shirts and trousers for brands such as Burberry, Charles Tyrwhitt, Tommy Hilfiger, Brooks Brothers and J Crew. Lee joined TAL in 2000 with a strong research background, a doctorate from Oxford and a BA in electrical and electronics engineering. Overseeing information technology and supply chain projects, he overhauled TAL's current enterprise resource planning system and has streamlined the manufacturing process: a shirt that took 35 workers three days can now be made in 19 minutes.
