Paula Hawkins is the author behind 2015’s runaway bestseller The Girl on the Train, a psychological thriller that has seen enormous success in both the UK and the US, debuting at number one in the New York Times bestsellers list and setting a record at the top of the UK hardback chart. In December it was announced as Amazon’s bestselling title of the year. The film rights were snapped up almost immediately, and a screen version starring Emily Blunt is set for release in autumn 2016. The Girl on the Train is Hawkins’s fifth book but the first under her own name, and she had previously published romantic fiction under a pseudonym and worked as a financial journalist. Hawkins plans to publish a follow-up thriller in the summer of 2016.
