David Shelley

CHIEF EXECUTIVE, Little, Brown AND ORION

David Shelley heads the two Hachette imprints of Little, Brown and Orion, having taken over from Ursula Mackenzie at the former upon her retirement in 2015. As group publisher at Little, Brown he was chosen by J K Rowling to publish her first adult novel The Casual Vacancy and acquired Robert Galbraith’s detective novels before the revelation that they were also, in fact, written by Rowling. Shelley’s career in publishing began at Allison & Busby, and he moved to Little, Brown in 2005, commissioning crime fiction and thrillers. He has been instrumental in the ongoing success of the twice-named Publisher of the Year ever since.
