Banksy

Graffiti Artist

2015 was the year of Banksy’s Dismaland, a ‘Bemusement Park’ in Weston-Super-Mare parodying Disneyland and including works by Damien Hirst and Jenny Holzer. This latest addition to Banksy’s provocative portfolio was in keeping with his subversive and political murals exposing hypocrisy, poverty and conflict, most recently during a trip to the Gaza Strip when he painted a kitten on to the remains of a house destroyed in an air strike. Despite being one of the most famous street artists in the world, Banksy’s identity is still a closely-guarded secret, but it has been suggested that he is Bristol-born artist Robert Gunnigham. In 2010 his award-winning film Exit Through the Gift Shop was released to critical acclaim and nominated for a Best Documentary Academy Award.
