Theodore Ma
After graduating from Stanford in 2004, MaBelle managing director Theodore Ma helped take his family’s retail and wholesale jewellery business into the 21st century by designing and building an online fulfilment infrastructure that was integrated into its 100-plus stores in Hong Kong and China. Eight years later he co-founded Born to Fly with his family and Cocoon was hatched. Cocoon, with over 900 members and alumni, has grown to be one of Hong Kong’s largest co-working spaces that supports and nurtures start-ups. Cocoon aims to be an ideas exchange platform that lights up the entrepreneurial spirit of Hong Kong and creates innovative jobs. CoCoon’s now famous monthly pitch nights pair up established business owners and investors with up-and-coming entrepreneurs. CoCoon members have collectively raised over $116 million HKD of angel funding since 2013.
