British playwright Mike Bartlett’s outstanding 2015 saw his play Game premier at the Almeida Theatre, his BBC One drama series Doctor Foster receive critical acclaim plus a commission for a second season, and two Olivier Awards. King Charles III and Bull received Best New Play and Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre respectively at the prestigious theatre awards. King Charles III also won the Critics' Circle Award for Best Play of 2014 and was subsequently a hit on Broadway. Having studied English and Theatre Studies at the University of Leeds, Bartlett moved to London where he won a place on the Royal Court’s influential Young Writers Programme. There he studied under, and impressed, playwright Simon Stephens, and in 2007, My Child became Bartlett’s first professionally-staged work.
