Anthony Forbes Watson has been managing director at Pan Macmillan since 2008, heading up one of the UK’s largest general book publishers whose imprints include Picador and Kingfisher. Forbes Watson has no shortage of leadership experience in the publishing industry: he was CEO at Penguin UK for nine years until 2005 and managing director at Ladybird Books and Pitman Publishing prior to that. Forbes Watson has overseen a five-year turnaround at Pan Mac, which culminated in a doubling of its annual profits and winning Publisher of the Year at the Bookseller Awards in 2015. Imprint Picador published bestselling prize winner The Miniaturist in 2014 and at the end of 2015 Pan Macmillan acquired Oprah Winfrey’s long-awaited memoir, The Life You Want.
