Sarah Burton, OBE

Creative Director, Alexander McQueen

Manchester-born Sarah Burton has been creative director at Alexander McQueen since the designer's death in 2010. Burton is perhaps best known for designing Catherine Middleton’s wedding dress for her marriage to Prince William in April 2011, and she has also created pieces for Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama and Gwyneth Paltrow. She had worked alongside McQueen for 14 years, having applied for a placement while studying print fashion at St Martin's College. She joined full-time as his PA and was appointed head of womenswear in 2000. In 2014, Burton won the Red Carpet Designer Award at the British Fashion Awards, and this year Paris-based Alexander McQueen returns to its roots to show its Autumn/Winter 2016 collection at London Fashion Week.
