Theoretical Physicist and Author

A celebrity of the science world, Stephen Hawking is also considered the greatest theoretical physicist of his time. While studying Cosmology at Cambridge, Hawking was diagnosed at 21 with Motor Neurone Disease and given two years to live. 53 years on, he has made numerous ground-breaking discoveries in physics and cosmology, authored best-selling books, and appeared on screen in documentaries and television shows including The Simpsons, Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Big Bang Theory. Hawking held the prestigious position of Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge for 30 years and he continues his work as director of research at the university’s Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
