Chief of the Air Staff

Air Chief Marshal Sir Andrew Pulford was commissioned into the RAF as a helicopter pilot in 1977 and assumed his current role in 2013, becoming the first ever helicopter pilot to serve as chief of the Air Staff. Over the course of his nearly 30-year career Pulford has commanded in every rank and has seen operational service in Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands, Lebanon, the Balkans and the Gulfcommanding the Chinnok Force through large-scale deploments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Pulford was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath in 2016.
