Commander Richard Walton leads the specialist operation unit of the Metropolitan Police responsible for protecting London and the UK at large from terrorist threats in his role as head of Counter Terrorism Command. With 338 arrests related to counter-terrorism occurring over a one-year period in 2014 and 2015, marking a 33% increase on the previous year, and the UK’s terrorist threat level currently standing at ‘severe’, Walton’s leadership is pivotal in the fight against extremist atrocities in the UK.
