Amanda Nevill, CBE

CEO, British Film Institute

Art-lover Amanda Nevill became the first female CEO of the British Film Institute in 2003, and over the course of her more than ten years in charge, she has transformed the BFI and established it as the cultural institution at the heart of British cinema for audiences and film-makers. Today the BFI is the lead organisation for film in the UK, distributing lottery funs allocated for the film industry, and running the BFI Film Academy for educating and nurturing the next generation of film-lovers and makers. Nevill has also pioneered the development of the BFI Player – an on-demand platform for British, archive and international film.
