Gareth Williams

Co-Founder and CEO, Skyscanner

Skyscanner began life as a simple Excel spreadsheet created by Gareth Williams to solve the frustrating problem of finding the best value flights to France in 2001. It is now valued at over £500 million and is the go-to website for independent travellers throughout the world. From its roots on a bedroom laptop 15 years ago, Skyscanner now employs over 250 people and has offices in the UK, Singapore, Beijing, Shenzhen, Miami, Barcelona, Sofia and Budapest, offering travel searches in 30 languages. 2015 saw Skyscanner win Best Use of Tech in the Digital Economy at the PWC UK Tech Awards, and Williams win the prestigious World Travel Market 2015 World Travel Leaders Award. Williams studied mathematics and computing at the University of Manchester, where he met his Skyscanner co-founders, Bon Grimes and Barry Smith.
