Joyce Ma

After a stint in the family retail business, Joyce Ma founded the Joyce Boutique in 1970 and became an ambassador for Hong Kong fashion, bringing western designers to the Asia market. Travelling to fashion shows and ateliers in Italy and France, she handpicked designer clothes that she felt would fit the Asian woman, raising the style bar for women in Hong Kong. She is credited with introducing major brands like Gucci, Armani and Prada, as well as Japanese and Belgian designers, to Hong Kong and Asia. With her eye for contemporary art and design she set the stage for a sophisticated aesthetic that drew the glitterati to her doors. Known as the queen of fashion in Hong Kong, her name is recognised globally and she was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur by the French government for her contributions to the fashion industry. Today she mentors the next generation of fashion divas, including her daughter Adrienne Ma who is now bringing new designers to Hong Kong.
