Sir Ronald Cohen

Philanthropist, CO-Founder and Chairman, The Portland Trust

Sir Ronald Cohen was the driving force in the development of social investment having set up various organisations, such as Big Society Capital, to give socially-driven enterprises greater access to affordable capital. A perennial campaigner and ambassador for social investment, Sir Ronald chaired the Social Impact Investment Taskforce as well as co-founding Social Finance UK, USA and Israel, and Bridge Ventures. Hoping to help bring an end to the long-standing conflict between Palestine and Israel, the Egyptian-born, Jewish Cohen co-founded The Portland Trust in 2003, which aims to develop the economies of Israel and Palestine, and thus bring about greater stability.
