J K Rowling

Author

Though best known as a novelist, the first of J K Rowling’s Harry Potter books was adapted for film in 2001 and, six installments later, it is currently ranked as the second highest-grossing film series in history. She has since gone on to co-write a two-part stage production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which tells the eighth part of the Harry Potter story and opens in July 2016 at The Palace Theatre. The first round of tickets sold out within hours. Rowling came up with the idea for Harry Potter on a train from Manchester to London seven years prior to the publication of her first novel.
