Tsui Hark

Vietnamese-born Tsui Hark began experimenting with 8mm film just before moving to Hong Kong at age 14. He went on to become an influential and acclaimed New Wave director, producer and screenwriter responsible for films such as A Better Tomorrow and Once Upon a Time in China, and most recently, Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate and Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon. He co-founded his production house Film Workshop with his former wife, producer and production designer Nansun Shi in 1984, and is regarded by critics as one of the masters of Asian cinematography.
