Bridal Shoes

Wedding shoes must be comfortable and good quality. The bride should not have to worry about her feet rubbing or hurting on the day.

The shoes must be worn in with extreme care; putting a clean pair of socks over the shoes will protect delicate fabrics from wear and tear before the day.

Remeber that the bridal shoes must be taken along to the dress fittings to ensure that the dress is the right length with the heel.

Silk or satin shoes can be dyed after the wedding, allowing the bride to wear them on future occasions.

Shoe Considerations

Fabric: silk or satin shoes are usually worn; leather looks harsh against the soft fabrics of a wedding dress

Colour: the colour of the shoes should match the colour of the dress fabric - this is usually ivory or white

Shape: the bride should remember that the front of the shoe will show the most, so she should choose the toe shape carefully, and decide on open or closed toes.

Design: some brides like the delicate look and feel of slingbacks, whereas others prefer something more sturdy and easier to walk in.

Heels: shoes with a heel often improve posture. The bride will be on her feet all day so small, kitten-style heels are a good option.

Flats: the bride may not want to appear taller than the groom. She should consider flat shoes, such as court shoes or pumps, if this might be a problem.
