Lizzie Armitstead is the current national, Commonwealth and world champion in road racing. 2015 saw her best season to date when she won the UCI World Road Championship in Virginia, USA with 'surgical precision', making her a favourite to triumph at Rio later in the year. Born in West Yorkshire, Armitstead took up cycling after British Cycling's Olympic Talent Team visited her school. She won silver in the road race at London 2012 and was shortlisted for Sports Personality of the Year at the end of last year.
