Joanna Prior

President, Publishers’ Association and Managing Director, Penguin General Books

Managing director at Penguin General Books Joanna Prior was additionally elected to the role of president of the Publishers’ Association in 2015, acting as a figurehead for the publishing industry and an adviser to its executives. Prior insists there is ‘no glass ceiling’ in industry but is determined to make it open to a broader range of recruits and to promote greater diversity as part of her year-long tenure as president. In her day job at Penguin, Prior oversees acquisitions and the day-to-day management of one of the seven adult divisions within Penguin Random House, whose authors include Zadie Smith, Nick Hornby, John le Carré and Clare Balding.
