Josie Rourke

Artistic director, Donmar Warehouse

 Josie Rourke became artistic director of London's leading Off-West End venue The Donmar in 2012. Having studied English at Cambridge, directing theatre productions simultaneously, Rourke worked nights in a mergers and acquisition bank before she made her move into directing. She trained under Sam Mendes at her future home, the Donmar, and assisted directors including Sir Nicholas HytnerRourke became artistic director of the Bush Theatre in 2007, finding it a new home in the former Shepherd's Bush Library, before assuming her role at the Donmar five years later. In 2015 she staged The Vote, which was broadcast live on More4 on the day of the general election.
