Dame Judi Dench is considered one of the greatest actresses of her generation both for her extraordinary skill and for the range of roles she has played. She made a name for herself on stage in a number of Shakespearian roles before making the transition to screen work towards the end of the ’50s. Since then, Dench has played a multitude of iconic TV and film roles which have included Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth I and ‘M’ in the hugely popular James Bond franchise. Earlier this year she concluded a run at the Garrick starring as Paulina in The Winter’s Tale, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Over the course of her career Dench has received 203 awards nominations across theatre, film and television, of which she has won an Oscar, a Tony, six Oliviers and ten BAFTAs.
