Anita and Poju Zabludowicz

COLLECTORS, PHILANTHROPISTS AND GALLERY OWNERS

Husband and wife Anita and Poju Zabludowicz have been accumulating a 500-artist strong collection since the mid 1990s, and it has been open to the public at three locations for the last decade. Helsinki-born Poju heads his family firm Tamares and has a number of other business interests that help fund the couple’s art collection and philanthropic work. Anita was born in Newcastle and studied Fine Art and History of Art there before working for ten years in interior architecture. It was only after visiting an exhibition of modern art that she was inspired to collect, and she decided to take a course of study at Christie’s. The Zabludowicz Collection celebrated its 20-year anniversary in 2015 with an exhibition at its London space featuring works by artists including Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and Tracey Emin, many of which hadn’t been seen before.
