Henry Steiner

Austrian-born Henry Steiner founded his brand consultancy firm Steiner & Co in Hong Kong in 1964 after studying at the Sorbonne and Yale. He pioneered the expression of identity through branding, particularly in Asia, where his skill for incorporating Eastern cultural symbols into Western design has garnered international acclaim. His work is integral to the city’s landscape and part of our daily lives, and he is responsible for highly identifiable brands including IBM, Hyatt Regency, Hilton Hotels, Dow Jones, HSBC, Standard Chartered and Unilever. In 1975, he was commissioned by the Hong Kong government to design the city's bank notes. In 2002 Steiner was included in Masters of the 20th Century, Icograda’s Hall of Fame, and he was named a World Master by Idea magazine.
