Rocco S K Yim, BBS, JP

Awarding-winning architect Rocco S.K. Yim co-founded Rocco Design Partners in 1982 and is responsible for many iconic buildings in Hong Kong, including iSquare, One Peking Road, Citibank Plaza, Man Yee Building, China Online Centre, Victoria Towers and the Guangdong Museum. In 2007, defeating fierce competition, Yim’s firm was awarded the tender for designing the new Government Headquarters and Legislative Council Complex, creating a landmark known as 'The Open Door', celebrating Hong Kong's spirit of inclusiveness, tolerance and acceptance of other cultures. He has received honours from the Chicago Athenaeum Architectural Awards, the International Design Awards, the World Architecture Festival and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, as well as two ARCASIA gold medals. In recognition of his contributions to architecture and society, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Hong Kong University.
