Are you a creative problem solver? Have a technical aptitude and a willingness to learn about the inner workings of a scholarly publisher? Whether you are following a graduate/undergraduate program aimed at publishing and media, publishing technology and logistics, or business and communications, this is an excellent opportunity to get first-hand experience in a professional environment.

Brill is looking for two interns to support the Downstream Operations team made up of the following departments:

  • Production & Logistics
  • Platform Technology
  • Product Solutions
  • Applications & Data

The internships are flexible in terms of duration (up to six months) and scope.  With guidance and supervision from the department, interns will be given the tools and resources needed to complete both long-term projects and one-off tasks. These could include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Analyse usage of digital products, e-commerce sales, logistical data, etc.
  • Support efforts in the distribution of content and metadata to third parties.
  • Create and edit pages on our corporate website brill.com.
  • Work with Google Analytics reporting to provide insight into user behaviour across Brill websites, marketing campaigns, etc.
  • Support creation and updating of technical documentation for applications managed within the Applications & Data team.

Your profile:

  • Proficiency in English; working knowledge of Dutch is a plus, but not required.
  • A self-starter able to work independently while also working as part of a team.
  • A technical aptitude with the willingness to learn how to use new applications.
  • Familiarity with XML and online publishing is a plus, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft excel and other office suite programs.
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of the scholarly publishing industry. 
  • Applicants must be registered as a student at an official Dutch training institute, or international institution (via the Erasmus Grant program, for example), throughout the entire internship period. Both graduate-level and under graduate level applicants will be considered.
