To be eligible to become a Student Subscriber of the APS, you need to be a current student studying an APAC-accredited psychology course - undergraduate and fourth year studies, and postgraduate Masters and Doctorate professional psychology programs - or a postgraduate research degree in psychology.

For just $85 a year, Student Subscribers of the APS are entitled to a range of benefits and services available exclusively to APS members.     As an association with more than 22,000 members, the APS facilitates a range of national and local events, ranging from specialist conferences to professional seminars and social events in local areas, many of which are organised by members groups or your branch. These events, which vary according to your areas of interest and location, are promoted in the regular PsychNews newsletters distributed to members.

  • Colleges and Interest Groups

    Student Subscribers who are enrolled in an APAC-accredited psychology course can join any of the nine APS Colleges at a cost of $15 each college, allowing you an unrivalled opportunity to explore the specialist areas in which you future career may lie.There are also numerous Interest Groups to join that focus on emerging areas of professional practice, particular content areas or social issues, and which can further increase your opportunities to make contacts, get up to speed on the latest developments, and explore the variety of contexts in which you may be able to make use of your psychology qualifications.

    Read about developments in the world of psychology on the APS website. The site includes community information and resources - such as tip sheets - which can help to explain and support the work that you do, as well as journal articles by eminent psychologists who are practising and conducting research across this diverse science. Learn more about current research being conducted via the Research Opportunities page, on which you may be able to list your own projects, through a supervisor. Keep up to date with events around Australia with the constantly updated events section and learn more about the work being undertaken in issues of community importance by the Psychology in the Public Interest team.

  • Code of Ethics, Ethical Guidelines and professional resources

    EthicsProfessional guidelines and the APS code of ethics cover a range of topics that arise in the work of psychologists. The APS offers guidance and support as you embark on internships or paid employment, to help you to navigate the challenges that may present themselves in this work, keep you on a sure footing, and ensure you are practicing with the greatest legal protection. Recently developed documents include revised guidelines on psychological assessment and the use of psychological tests, while position papers and review papers give you access the range of research on key areas of interest to psychologists.     New Student Subscribers receive a free copy of the APS Code of Ethics and Ethical Guidelines booklets (valued at $71.50 for non-members) when they join.

  • InPsych

    This publication is mailed to members every two months to keep them informed about topical issues and new developments in psychology. Each edition of InPsych includes substantial reports on issues and developments in the education and training sectors, and special sections devoted to select topical issues in the field. The Editor welcomes letters from Student Subscribers.

  • APS Matters

    This fortnightly email update is distributed to all members with links to APS member news and website updates. This is the first port of call for the latest news in the sector, such as changes to Government funding or plans for psychology education as they are being unveiled.

  • APS awards and prizes

    As the peak professional body, the APS promotes a range of awards and prizes, which span a range of specialist areas and geographical locations. A great many are dedicated to highlighting psychology's brightest students, and allow you to showcase your work on a national stage.
