SeeTucson.org Geotourism

The Desert Museum is a founding partner in the University of Arizona's Geotourism initiative, a program to promote the astounding biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert that makes Tucson a truly unique place in the world.

The initiative launched SeeTucson.org, an ever-changing exhibition of photos taken in Southern Arizona, in March 2014. The public is invited to explore the region's spectacular beauty and provide personal perspectives by sharing photos on the site via Instagram.

Geotourism supports sustainability principles by building on a destination's existing character — its sense of place — to emphasize the distinctiveness of its locale to both visitors and residents. The images that are submitted can serve as living documents of the spectacular and unique natural environment of Tucson and Southern Arizona.

When posting an image to Instagram, including the #seetucson hashtag will allow those same photos to appear on SeeTucson.org. More information is available at the 'See and Share Tucson' page on the SeeTucson.org website.
