Forecast from Meteorologist Clayton Stiver:
High pressure is briefly in control but a front to our south and west will lift back north as a warm front late tonight into early Thursday. A complex of storms riding along this boundary from the Midwest may hold together and track across portions of VA just in time for the Thursday AM commute. Some severe weather will be possible with damaging winds and very heavy rain leading to localized flooding being the primary concerns. Some clearing may then take place as we go into early Thursday Afternoon. As a wave of low pressure tracks by to our north, it will drag a cold front into a warm/humid air mass. This will once again bring scattered showers/storms which could become severe. Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and an isolated tornado will be the concerns. This system will slowly exit Friday but may still be close enough to keep clouds and an isolated shower around. High pressure finally builds in for good for the weekend leading to seasonable temperatures, fairly low humidity, and sunny skies. Gradually things start to warm back up again for the start of next week with increasing humidity. A cold front approaching Monday Afternoon into Monday Night could spark some t-storms again.
Tonight: An isolated shower otherwise mostly cloudy with scattered showers/storms possible mainly after 2am, patchy fog, lows 68-73. Thursday: Cloudy to start with possible t-storms, partly sunny, warm/humid for the afternoon with scattered t-storms, highs 84-92. Friday: Variable clouds, cooler, an isolated shower possible, highs 77-81. Saturday: Mostly sunny and pleasant, highs 80-84. Sunday: Mostly sunny, warmer but still pleasant, highs 82-86. Monday: Sun and clouds, humid, chance of PM scattered storms, highs 84-88. Tuesday: Sun and clouds, isolated t-storm possible, warm, highs 86-90. Wednesday: Mostly sunny and pleasant, highs 82-86.
