Entrance to The State Historical Society of Missouri - Research Center, Cape Girardeau

Established as the sixth branch of the State Historical Society of Missouri, the Research Center-Cape Girardeau supports the overall mission of SHSMO with special attention to expanding both the study of the southeast region of the state and the preservation of its history. The center was formed in partnership with Southeast Missouri State University to provide local residents convenient access to resources, including the Oliver Collection, the Congressman William 'Bill' Emerson Papers , and the Charles M. Barnes Papers.

Manuscript, book, and microfilm collections from other SHSMO Research Centers will be available the first Friday of the month. Researchers may request up to three boxes of material each month. Requests must be made at least one week in advance.
