The Hon Fred Chaney unveils the first APS Reconciliation Action Plan at the 47th APS Annual Conference

Over 100 APS members attended the Gala Launch of the first APS Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) at the 47th APS Annual Conference on Saturday 29 September in Perth.

The plan was formally launched by Professor Simon Crowe FAPS and Professor Pat Dudgeon FAPS  (Co-Chairs of the RAP Working Group), along with special guest The Hon Fred Chaney (representing Reconciliation Australia), and APS President Tim Hannan FAPS.
Reconciliation involves building relationships – and understanding – between Indigenous Australians and the wider community, for the benefit of all (Reconciliation Australia).

The APS is committed to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, to help close the gap in life expectancy, mental health and wellbeing outcomes between Indigenous and other Australians.

The RAP launch was a celebration of the collaborative work that has gone into the development of the APS RAP over the past two years and the solid commitment and direction established by the APS.
