Examination & Desk Copies

Many Yale University Press titles designed for classroom use are now available in a downloadable format for reading on your computer or tablet free of charge. If you’re on the move, or if you need to make a fast decision, this is a quick and easy way to receive your exam copy.

To request a free e-exam copy: You will find a request link on each available title’s page. Click this link and follow the directions. If this is your first request, you will be prompted to set up an account. Once your request has been submitted and approved, you will receive a link for accessing the text online. Your e-exam copy will be available for review for sixty days. (Note: email notifications sometimes land in spam mailboxes—please be sure to check yours.)

To examine a print copy of a book priced $40.00 or lower: Click here to print your order form. Return the form to us by mail or by fax, plus $5.00 (payable by check or credit card) for each book requested to cover shipping and handling. There is no need to return the book to us after examining. Limit: 3 books/year.

For books priced over $40.00: Click here to print your order form. While books priced over $40.00 are not available as examination copies, they may be purchased by qualified academics at a 25% discount , plus shipping/handling and appropriate state sales tax.
