Forecast from Meteorologist Clayton Stiver:
Some of the hottest temperatures we have seen this Summer continue this weekend! High pressure is off the coast, allowing a southwesterly wind flow to increase the heat and humidity. At the same time, a big ridge in the jet stream to our west has expanded eastward allowing some of the extreme heat and humidity to our west to overspread the region. Sunday into the start of next week, the afternoon heat index values/real feel temperatures will be at or above 100 for many with some feeling as hot as 107. Overnight lows will not drop below 70 for many locations. Weak disturbances moving along the jet stream to our north may be able to provide just enough energy to produce an isolated shower/storm Sunday, but most will remain dry. A slightly stronger cold front moving in Monday into Tuesday is expected to provide a slightly better chance for scattered storms. This boundary may linger through much of next week to keep our forecast unsettled with daily chances for PM storms. This will allow temps to cool back closer to more tolerable levels however the humidity will remain high. Stay cool and safe and don't forget to check on the young, elderly, and pets!
