ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

Hispanic members of a Roman Catholic Church in Albemarle County are sharing their thoughts about Hillary Clinton's vice president pick.

They view Sen. Tim Kaine's ability to speak fluent Spanish as an advantage in gaining support from Hispanic voters.

Hispanic members of the Church of the Incarnation say Clinton made a very good decision in choosing Kaine because he can speak Spanish and he shares their religious beliefs.

Adan Villacorta volunteers at the church. He came to the United States about 10 years ago from Central America and says what the Hispanic community really cares about is immigration reform.

Villacorta says if Clinton wins the election, not only would Kaine be able to communicate with Hispanics but also solve some important issues that relate to standards of living.

"He could help bring to fruition the thing we've been waiting for, for over 10 years since I got here, which would be immigration reform." I think right now every Hispanic is paying close attention because it scares us that Donald Trump could win," Villacorta said.

"I think he's a person of the people, he's different from other politicians," Carlos Martinez said.

Martinez is from Honduras and now lives in the U.S.

Kaine lived and worked in his home country, which he sees as a plus. Martinez also says Kaine seems to have a lot of charisma.

Having the chance to work in the U.S. and be treated fairly is what Villacorta says matters most to him.

He hopes to see more opportunities come as the Hispanic population continues to grow.
