Teeth! Not only will you start seeing them soon (if you haven't already), but you should also start brushing them. While brushing a single tooth might seem a little silly to you, it is actually a good conditioning tool for your baby. When you start brushing your baby's teeth early they learn about the importance and the routine of brushing their teeth.

You do not want the baby teeth to decay as they are the holding place for the permanent teeth. Your baby will also need these first teeth for many years in order to chew, bite and talk properly. Not only will decayed teeth make speech difficult for your child, but it could affect their self image and cause problems that could last for many years. Another advantage for the baby is that gentle brushing, if done on the gums, can help relieve some teething pain. Make sure you use a proper infant toothbrush for any brushing you do at this point.

Week 24 Milestones

Now that your baby is probably sitting on his own, and possibly crawling, it is time for him to learn how to get into a sitting position either from lying down or crawling. Practicing this will also help tone up your baby's leg and back muscles.

What Might Concern You at 24 Weeks

Baby Week 24

You have probably noticed a change in your baby's bowel movements. Most mom's ask in a panic "Why is my baby's poop this color?" Where before it was predominantly loose and runny, not to mention mustard colored if you were breastfeeding, it is now becoming a bit more solid, darker and smaller.

This is a normal process as baby's diet changes. If he seems to be getting a little constipated now, check with your doctor to see if there are any over the counter medications you can give him. These might help relieve his gas or make it easier for him to go to the bathroom.
