The forecast from Norm Sprouse:
Quite the change in our weather folks! With high pressure to the north and a front to our south lifting back to the north, an east breeze has set up. This all helped to make for cool temps, clouds, and showers Monday as moisture got banked up against the mountains. Far northern reaches of the viewing area and certainly NOVA actually saw sunshine with much warmer temps thanks to more influence from sinking air of the high pressure system to the north. Expect similar conditions today but the shower coverage does not look to be as great. Temps should be a little warmer because of this too. By the mid and late week, winds shift out of the south and southwest as high pressure moves off the coast. This will lead to more sun, warmer temps, and higher humidity values. A ridge of high pressure aloft looks to keep us mostly dry Wednesday through Friday but a few PM storms are not out of the question. A cold front slowly approaching from the west will start to increase scattered PM storm chances this weekend into the start of next week. Right now it looks like next Monday will feature the highest probability for storms as the front actually crosses the region.
Today: Some dense fog to start, showers likely early, then cloudy with a spotty shower for much of the rest of the day, still fairly cool, highs 75-80. Wednesday: Partly sunny, warmer and more humid, couple PM storms possible, highs 84-88. Thursday: Sun and clouds, couple PM storms possible, warm/humid, highs 86-90. Friday: Sun and clouds, hot/humid, few PM storms, highs 87-91. Saturday: Partly sunny, hot/humid, scattered PM storms, highs 88-92. Sunday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms, cooler, highs 84-88. Monday: Mostly cloudy, scattered showers and storms, highs 82-86.
