The forecast from Meteorologist Eric Pritchett:
Not as hot! While warm and humid, a more noticeable change of the air will arrive early next week! A weak front is just to our south and will dissipate over North Carolina. A little break from the heat for now, as daytime highs have largely backed down into the mid and upper 80s. Warm, humid conditions will take us through the weekend. Daily storm chances will continue, but increase on Sunday, as a strong cold front approaches and moves across the Mid-Atlantic region. Some of the storms Sunday may produce locally heavy rain and could turn strong to severe. A dip in the jet stream and this cold front, will help to user in a more noticeable air mass change. Cooler, drier - more comfortable conditions expected next week.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, isolated shower possible, patchy fog, lows 66-71. Friday: Partly sunny, isolated storms possible, highs 85-90. Saturday: Sun/clouds, warm, humid, some PM t-storms, highs 85-90. Sunday: Sun/clouds, warm, humid, scattered PM showers/storms, highs 85-90. Monday: Mostly sunny, cooler, less humid, highs 79-84. Tuesday: Mostly sunny, less humid, pleasant, highs 78-83. Wednesday: Mostly sunny, pleasant, highs 80-85. Thursday: Mostly sunny, nice, highs 82-86.
