Herston is UQ‘s core campus for clinical health teaching and research. UQ Herston is home to the School of Medicine, the School of Public Health, the Faculty of Medicine office, the UQ Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR), Health @ UQ,  and the research activities of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

The campus is located alongside the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and is approximately three kilometres from the CBD. Its proximity to a major hospital benefits students and staff and demonstrates UQ’s commitment to working within a clinical academic environment to deliver innovative and contemporary research and education programs. Many UQ researchers work in specialised nodes located within the hospital complex, including at the state-of-the-art Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF) and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR).

The campus is also home to The Oral Health Centre (OHC), Australia’s largest and most advanced specialist oral health service. The OHC is a $104 million federally-funded project that will bring together UQ’s School of Dentistry and parts of Queensland Health’s Oral Health Services.
